1 Star Defective Part
I was anxious to get the product as i was readying for a trip to Smokies, when the product came it worked OK on the 1st day, 2nd day it just gave up with the GPS defaulting to System Settings screen and doesnt go back main menu, Magellan customer support said the System is defective and had to be returned. All in all i am disappointed with the product and lost time. I had to rate something, so its 1 star..

The unit looked like brand new all the cables where included.Great price,
not very accurate and the blue tooth when used with the cell phone is not loud enough and the other party complained most of the time that my voice was not clear.I like the voice activation I say “Magellan” and it gives me options I say “go home” and it will guide me home!I have seen a lot worse GPS units for a lot more money, this is a great unit for the money.
1 Star Don’t Buy Refurbished
The maps and Points Of Interest on these units are very outdated. MAGELLAN WILL NOT UPDATE YOUR MAP FOR THESE DEVICES…YOU HAVE TO BUY IT FULL PRICE AT $80. That makes the cost and hassle more than buying a brand new unit.
The “Like New” description for refurbished units both here and on the Megellan website is a blatant lie. My software was dated 1st quarter 2007. That’s the release date, which means the info itself is even older. Often the business has moved or closed by now. The POI also contains just plain wrong information; Several times now I’ve searched for a nearby restaurant, followed the GPS’s directions, and ended up in a residential neighborhood with no comercial area in sight. “You have arrived” it says. Grrrrrr.
The hardware is excellent on these…they really are faster than Garmins and TomToms. In other words, you get the beep for a turn right before the turn, not when you just passed it !
Too bad the outdated software and poor company marketing practices renders this unit junk.
